While the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes are known as North America’s three esteemed horse races, the Breeders’ Cup is right up there with them even though it doesn’t have the same longevity. The annual series of Grade I thoroughbred races is one of the richest in terms of purses. In 2014, there were 13 races with $23.5 million the line. And with so many races and horses to choose from, it can be a very profitable day for Breeders Cup betting handicappers as well.
How To Pick A Winner?
There is a lot of homework to do when it comes to handicapping the Breeders Cup betting lines. That’s because there are so many different races with varying grades, horses, surfaces and distances. The grand daddy of them all is the Breeders’ Cup Classic, which involves three-year-olds (and up) and runs 1 ¼ miles on dirt.
How Does It Work?

For example: you can bet on a horse to win, place (finish in the top two) or show (finish in the top three).
